The legendary Joe Cocker is coming to Nice this April for what should be one of the musical highlights of the year on the Riviera.

Famous for his gritty voice and his passionate delivery, as well as for his cover versions of popular standards and his iconic performance of the Beatles’ “With a Little Help from My Friends” during the Woodstock festival of 1969, the Côte d’Azur is in for a real treat when Joe Cocker lands at the Palais Nikaïa this April.

The British Grammy Award winning singer has indeed embarked on a 35 date arena tour that will take him all across Europe. A great way to show the world that after more than four decades in the music industry, the 68-year old artist is still going strong.

Cocker’s ‘Fire it Up‘ tour comes in support of his 23rd studio album of the same name, which was released last November to critical acclaim.

Joe Cocker's new album, Fire It Up Produced by Matt Serlertic, who has also worked with the likes of Matchbox Twenty, Collective Soul, and Cher, this latest effort contains a great mixture of all the artist’s trademarks: classic soul tracks, powerful ballads, and high-energy songs.

This new tour will of course allow fans to discover this new offering being performed live, but it will also give them a chance to hear some of Cocker’s greatest hits, from “You Are So Beautiful” and “Unchain My Heart”, to “Up Where We Belong” and “You Can Leave Your Hat On”.

Just a few weeks before both Depeche Mode and Muse are scheduled to perform in Nice, on the 4th of May and the 26th of June respectively, one can be sure that Mr. Cocker will open the concert season on a high note.

Joe Cocker plays the Palais Nikaïa in Nice on Saturday, 6th of April 2013 at 8:30pm. Tickets range in price from 45,50 € to 62 € and can be purchased through all the usual outlets or reserved online.
